Attaching Your Print

How to attach your reflective print

Attaching a reflective print is easy as pie! Let’s do it!

But first! Please try ironing the material you're planning on using with your iron on full power on some unnoticeable spot. We do not recommend attaching prints to Gore-Tex fabrics.

  1. Place the print where you want it, with the stickier/rougher side down and the smooth/slightly blurry side up. (If you’re attaching a piece of the film, make sure to remove the transparent film from the side that is towards the material.)
  2. Cover with a baking sheet.
  3. Place your iron over the print and press down with force for approx. 15 seconds. (The print is fine even if you press a tad longer, but any less might make it less cooperative.)
  4. Let the print cool to at least room temperature.
  5. Gently peel the top layer off with a swift motion.
  6. Cover the print with a baking sheet again.
  7. Place your iron over the print and press down with force for approx. 5 seconds.

And voilá, it’s time to shine!

Iron-on transfers attach to cotton really neatly. We’ve tested them on hoodies, sweatpants, and t-shirts, among others—and yes, it works perfectly!

Denim

Iron-on transfers grip rough denim easily, and the material stands up well to heat.

Denim jackets and jeans are often worn late into the autumn, so a pair of butterfly wings on a trouser leg or flowers on the back of a jacket ensure visibility effortlessly!

Thin puffer jackets

This surprises many, but it really works! As long as you remember to use baking paper, you’ll be fine. And it’s always a good idea to do a test run on the bottom hem first, just to be safe.

But what about the seams? Since you can cut the transfers into smaller pieces as you like, placing them between seams is no problem at all!

Nylon

Believe it or not! We tried ironing them onto tights half as a joke, and lo and behold—it actually worked! Leggings were next!

For stretchy materials, it's best to choose a design with plenty of "open space" (like our Herbarium or Lumi designs), as these withstand stretching the best. Our reflective tapes also handle stretching very well.

Pro tip! Try stretching the material over a piece of cardboard while ironing.
